How Reidy Contracting Group Syncs Building Permits Statuses with their Field Teams

Reidy Contracting Group in New York City came to Aquifer with a challenge: How do we sync building permits statuses with our team in the field? And can we utilize our project management system, Procore to manage progress? The result: A bi-directional data sync between the NYC Department of Buildings data feed and the Procore Inspections API.

Extract Permit Status from NYC DOB NOW Data Feed

First, the integration uses the NYC Open Data Portal to extract and load permit data from the DOB into aPostgreSQL data warehouse. This happens each day, asthe dataset is updated daily.

Sync Permit Status with Field Inspections in Procore

Aquifer takes the required items in its raw form as a comma-separated string, transforms each requirement into its own separate record, and an API to a management interface that includes the project information, a list of each of the permits relevant to that project, and a list of all requirements for each permit.

The contractor's staff can trigger a workflow that creates a customized Procore inspection with sections foreach permit, and the requirements as items to be marked as Pass/Fail or N/A.
